In this new music video collaboration, 16 global artists celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The artists in the video include Yungchen Lhamo, a Tibetan musician who was born in a Chinese labor camp and at the age of 22 trekked across the Himalayas with her two-year old son to escape oppression from the Chinese regime.

To all the women that made and make my life everyday
To my craft friends,
My teachers, My neighbors
My friends, colleagues, co-workers
To the ones who fight by my side and against me,
To the ones in Iraq, Mozambique, Haiti,
To the ones in Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Chile
Mexico or wherever they could be
The rich ones, the healthy, the sick
The ones in prayer on their knees
To the abused, scared and hurt
To the homeless, slave, forced to serve
To the mothers, grandmothers, aunties and cousins and sisters
My thoughts are for you, this is your Day
And no matter how hard life is
The power of every change lies only inside of you
WOMAN!

Vanessa Da Mata Album Cover

Vanessa da Mata is big in Brazil, and about to make her UK debut during this year’s la Linea festival. She writes most of her own material and is well enough connected to call on Os Ipanemas’ Wilson das Neves, Kassin (of Orquestra Imperial) and bossa nova veteran João Donato, as well as hiring Jamaican rhythm aces Sly & Robbie to help out on her reggae numbers and elsewhere. But after several listens to her undeniably pleasant third album (Yes) you’ll probably struggle to recall much, let alone hum one of the tunes. Read More

Um homem bonito assim
O que quer de mim
O que ele fará comigo?
Um homem bonito que planos
O que Deus me deu
E que ele fará com os seus
Braços de amansar desejos
Boca de beijo
Corpo de tocar
Meu coração muito tonto
Quer sair de mim

Olhos flechando meus zelos
Bem que o meu corpo já me mostrava
Tentação das mais safadas
Sem dor sem penar

Meu Deus, Ave Maria!

Meu Deus, Ave Maria!
Se ele não é um dos Seus
Ninguém mais seria
Ninguém mais seria
Meu Deus, Ave Maria!
Se ele não é um dos Seus
Ninguém mais seria
Ninguém mais
